This was one of the songs that the live band played and sang on the Georgetown waterfront, serenading you and me, during our one-on-one sushi picnic when we celebrated both of our birthdays, together, that was so fitting about God’s steadfast and never-ending love, goodness, kindness, and friendship that sing over you and I before either of us ever even spoke a word. It was a magical summer evening that was unplanned by us, but planned so perfectly by God.
We shared with one another our heart's greatest prayers, dreams, hopes, aspirations, and desires as we prayed for one another and vowed to continually pray for one another.
Tessa, I remember your specific prayers from this evening when we celebrated your birthday—specifically for the people you so dearly loved. I will continue to pray your prayers for them as a way to love, honor, and remember you, dear friend.
“Before I spoke a word, You were singing over me
You have been so, so good to me
Before I took a breath, You breathed Your life in me
You have been so, so kind to me
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God
Oh, it chases me down, fights 'til I'm found, leaves the ninety-nine
I couldn't earn it, and I don't deserve it, still, You give Yourself away
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God, yeah
When I was Your foe, still Your love fought for me
You have been so, so good to me
When I felt no worth, You paid it all for me
You have been so, so kind to me
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God
Oh, it chases me down, fights 'til I'm found, leaves the ninety-nine
I couldn't earn it, and I don't deserve it, still, You give Yourself away
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God, yeah
There's no shadow You won't light up
Mountain You won't climb up
Coming after me
There's no wall You won't kick down
Lie You won't tear down
Coming after me
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God
Oh, it chases me down, fights 'til I'm found, leaves the ninety-nine
And I couldn't earn it, I don't deserve it, still, You give Yourself away
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God”
